Old Oak Common Stations

From 2026 HS2, the Elizabeth line and National Rail services are expected to call at a new Old Oak Common station and the area will benefit from excellent east – west rail connections, including to central London and Heathrow Airport

With Arcadis, Fereday Pollard were commissioned by TfL to carry out GRIP stage 3 studies for the two new stations at Old Oak Common to create the wider interchange strategy for HS2 and Crossrail to connect to the Overground and then onto the underground network within the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation masterplan, itself covering a 650 hectare site.

We designed the two new stations and associated public realm to meet the potential increased travelling capacity and to provide the necessary interchange facilities for foot, bike and vehicular modes of travel.

At Old Oak Common Lane station we designed a new 150m long and 9m wide public footbridge, whilst at Hythe Road Station, we designed the station 6m above ground level to form a new railway viaduct.

We developed the design vision for both these stations and the connecting areas of public space in between that connected all the component parts and through this vision provided the basis for our architecture team to develop some truly inspirational designs.
