We have recently completed another successful consultation on behalf of Jacobs & HOK for Crossrail for the redesign of an existing travellers site in East London

Individual pitch visual

The existing travelers which already exist need to be relocated to the other side of a trianglular peninsular to make way from some Crossrail infrastructure.

Initially commissioned directly by Crossrail and now through the lead multi disciplinary consultancy Jacobs, we have developed the redesign of the entire site to accommodate more travellers pitches than were there before whilst allowing the infrastructure to be built.

With close involvement from the local authority (Tower Hamlets), the travellers themselves, local residents and other stakeholders the site has been completely redesigned around the external and internal road network. Careful consideration has also been put to acoustic issues with attenuation being designed in to offset the noise generated by the surrounding infrastructure.

The site itself and the individual pitches have been carefully crafted to be as sustainable as possible. All individual chalets are generated by their own solar stored energy, each has a green sedum roof, the external ground is formed by SUDS drainage and all water is recycled. We have secured planning consent for the site and are just beginning detailed design phases.

The design of the site is being used by Tower hamlets as their benchmark for good design.
